Crazy Peak Cabin
The House
A beautifully furnished and fully equipped 400 sf log cabin, with a covered deck on the west side.
- Living room – the views of the Crazy Mountains completely dominate this room. If you can get your eyes off of the mountains, you will also notice some very fine and very comfortable furniture. A gas hearth stove adds that final touch for your evening enjoyment.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms – the cabin has a loft bedroom with a queen-sized bed. The windows were designed to allow you to watch the mountains turn crimson with the morning sun while in the comfort of your own bed (trust me, this works very well). The bathroom is on the main level and includes a claw-foot tub with shower head. We hope you like the artist edition hand painted lavatory.
- Kitchen / dining – the kitchen and dining area are combined. The dining consists of a log plank bar with seating for two. The kitchen, although small, is equipped with a gas range, refrigerator, and microwave.
- Outdoor living – the outdoor deck allows you to take in all of what the mountain vistas have to offer.
How To Get There
North and west from Big Timber about 15 miles, and located at the mouth of Big Timber Canyon.
Activities
Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and all that the Crazy Mountains and surrounding mountain ranges have to offer is nearby. A forest service trailhead providing direct access to high mountain lakes and magnificent mountain peaks is 4 miles up the road. Fishing the Yellowstone, Gallatin, or Madison can all be accomplished either on your own or through the many outfitters available in Big Timber, Bozeman or Livingston. Horseback riding is also available through outfitters in the area. Day trips may include trips to Yellowstone National Park, the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, the Boulder River, or the Beartooth Highway. Don’t rule out a winter visit either as the area provides excellent cross-country skiing opportunities.
Services
Your rental includes an end of stay cleaning. For our guests staying more than one week, weekly cleaning services can be provided. Additional housekeeping can be provided if requested well in advance of your stay.
Additional Information
This cabin has a fully equipped kitchen including dinnerware, cooking ware, and basic condiments. All paper goods, dish and hand soaps, bed linens, and towels are also provided. Sorry, but we have chosen not to provide phone service or television to this cabin. Once you see the cabin and the views, we think you will understand why. (if you’re really creative we have managed to make a couple of cell calls. You may have to stand in just the right spot, but you may have luck if you’re persistent.)
Restrictions
No smoking is allowed in our home. No pets are allowed in the house or on the property.
A Personal Note
This cabin was the result of a nice Sunday morning walk gone astray. During the renovation of Big Timber Creek Lodge (located below this cabin along the creek, but far enough to ensure your privacy), we ventured up to the bench that the cabin now sits. It was one of those crystal clear, cool, crisp spring mornings, and the mountains soared in front of us with unbelievable majesty. We looked at each other and realized instantly that our renovation project had just taken a new dimension. Design and construction began immediately. We now can’t imagine this property without our Crazy Peak Cabin. We know if you choose to visit, you will fully understand.
Let us arrange for your stay at this place of your own in Montana.
